Phone/PC Compatibility
In order to use Xingtone, it's important to have the right mix of equipment and mobile services.
Overview
You must have a mobile phone that operates on one of the following networks in the US and Canada:
AT&T Wireless, Cellular One, Cingular, Rogers AT&T, Sprint, & T-Mobile.
The phone itself should be capable of:
1. Receiving text messages
2. Accessing a web page through the mobile Internet
3. Downloading and playing ringtones that contain real music and/or vocal sounds
You can quickly test your phone to ensure that it is compatible. A successful test means:
1. You receive a text message from Xingtone
2. You can access the web link in that text message using your mobile browser
3. You can download the file through the mobile Internet
4. You can set it as a real music ringtone for use on your phone
In a nutshell, this is how Xingtone's ringtone download process works except that you send the ringtone to your phone using the software.
Phones Not Listed In The Phone Test
If you don't see your phone or mobile network listed, it's most likely to be incompatible, but you can try one last test:
1. Go to http://xingtone.com/test.html in your mobile browser.
2. You will see 5 real music test formats.
3. Click on links 1-5 and attempt to download/save/assign each of those test files.
4. If one of those downloads successfully, try Xingtone for free
5. In the software, use the generic Supported Format option that matches the test format you downloaded.
For example, if you successfully downloaded/saved/assigned Test Format 2, select Supported Format 2 in the software.
Carriers Not Listed In The Phone Test
There are certain mobile networks that we do not support at this time (e.g. Alltel, Cricket, Nextel, VirginMobile). We may support these at some point in the future.
PC Compatibility
You must have a computer that runs one of the following PC-based operating systems: Windows 98, 98SE, ME, NT4.0, Win2000, or XP, has Internet Explorer installed (Version 5.5 or higher), and a sound card.
