IN SHORT: An application that allows you to keep track of several aspects of your data usage, including how you use your call allowance (as well as different time restrictions), your texts, your mobile Internet and the bills themselves. Sadly, it’s restricted to AT&T, but we did track down a slightly less thorough version that works on other networks (see ‘links’). It’s a must have for those who use the US network, though.
THE LOWDOWN: This application works by directly accessing the AT&T database and using it to extract all the data on your bills in an extremely up to date way, which makes it perfect for those a little tight on the financial side. You can check exactly which time of day would be cheaper (or free) to call someone using the different ‘minutes remaining’ bars, how much more data you can download on your mobile before the extra charges kick in, and exactly how many texts you’ve sent so far this billing period. The application will also tell you exactly when your next bill is due, and what you’ll be charged. The best aspect, perhaps, is the chance to check exactly how you’re spending your money: is it being wasted on those late night calls to the take out or on the pure quantity of middle of the day business calls? Either way, the information might even help you to switch to a more affordable call plan. At the very least, you’ll know exactly what kind of hit your bank account’s going to be taking each month. And it’s all at no extra cost, so why wouldn’t you?
