Apple’s UK iPad website has announced an unexpectedly early launch date for the new device, which is widely expected to lead yet another Apple fronted public technology revolution. Following the late January announcement of the product, including full US prices, most pundits (including us here at Xingtone) expected the iPad to hit UK shores as late as June or even July. The updated website, though, announces a shipment date for UK customers of late March for the standard iPad and early April for the device with additional 3G Internet access.
The UK head office of Apple remain silent when it comes to the prices that the various models will be launched at on the UK market, though the most common estimate found amongst industry experts seems to be a starting point of around £400, slightly more than the direct conversion of the well publicized US prices. For more exact UK launch dates, the UK iPad website has also added a section offering email updates for anyone wishing to know more precise information when it is available. Simply enter your details here. For developers, there is even a page encouraging the production of special iPad applications, providing you with all the information you need to get going. You will, however, have to be a member of the iPhone development team in order to get hold iPhone SDK 3.2 Beta, the program that allows development of new applications or iPad optimization of older iPhone apps.
