New 68-100 Service Offers Cheapest UK Directory Inquiries From A Mobile

Until recently, a typical directory enquiries phone call from a mobile phone averaged out at more than £1 per minute, with services like YELL offering the best deal at £1.08/ minute. A new 68-100 service (available on mobile phones only), however, has blown the competition out of the water, with a rate of 35p per minute, with the price including a text message giving the details of the enquiry or the service forwarding your call on to the correct number.

There is a small pay off – the service requires that every caller listens to a 20 second advert before getting hold of the number they require, something that none of the other enquiries do, and will also cost around 12p without getting any information. At an estimated saving of more than 50% for every call, however, those twenty seconds seem a small price to pay. It’s worth noting that a similar service (also involving listening to an advert) can be used from a landline for free, using the number 0800 118 3733, so 68-100 is really only useful when on the move. A bargain discount, nonetheless.

Further details as well as terms and conditions can be found on the 68100 website, as well as an explanation as to how it all works, here. To date the service is UK only.
