In anticipation of the day when the world’s newest and most exciting communications gadget drops onto your doormat, we thought it was high time we gave an overview of the best contract options on offer on ‘SIM Only’ packages in the UK. Of course, the Nexus One is going to open up a whole load of network competition in this particular area, so its one worth keeping an eye on over the next few weeks. There are plenty of other deals to be had, this is just our pick of the best. These deals are equally applicable to any unlocked phone you might want to buy, too, of course….

Option one: £20/ month. 900 anytime minutes, unlimited text messages and 500MB of mobile Internet and webmail access.

Option two: £25/ month. 1200 anytime minutes, unlimited text messages, unlimited calls to landlines and 500MB of mobile Internet and webmail access.

Option one: Dolphin SIM 30 (£30), 18 month contract. 1600 anytime minutes, unlimited text messages, 500MB of mobile Internet and webmail access.
