UK Ringtones Chart 14/03/2010

UK Singles Chart:

1.  Tinie Tempah – Pass Out (last week – 1) – SONG OF THE WEEK!

South London ‘grime’ star Tinie Tempah sticks it out at the top of the charts for another week with the impressive rap hit ‘Pass Out’. Originally of Nigerian decent, Tinie first gained a fan base with the release of 2005 underground smash ‘Wifey’, though he failed to capitalize on the breakthrough until the release of this single. A feud with local rapper Chipmunk rumbles on.

2. Rihanna – Rude Boy (last week – 2)

The track from Rihanna’s latest album ‘Rated R’ to have the biggest chart impact, Rude Boy has an icy outlook, pointed and diva-like, as well as being absolutely rammed with attitude. Typical Rihanna, then, and it’s notched up another week at number two. Download Rihanna Ringtones here.

3. Justin Bieber featuring Ludacris – Baby (new entry)

The baby-faced Internet superstar from Canada has roped in hip-hop star Ludacris on his latest effort, the debut single from his ‘2.0’ album. His biggest hit to date has finally made a substantially impact in the UK, where we can expect the youngster to take route for the foreseeable, having already done so across the pond. 4. Ellie Goulding – Starry Eyed (last week – 4)

Live, Ellie Goulding introduces her smash hit with a simple flash of both her hands in front of her face. Her fans go ballistic to what has to be one of the most infectious electro-pop singles that’s edged into the charts to date. She’s even won her own ‘genre’ title; ‘posh pop’. A real one to watch.

5. Jason DeRulo – In My Head (last week – 3)

Jason De Rulo’s single edged along the lines between hip-hop and rock, throwing in plenty of electro edge along the way, too. It’s a pumping, get up and go anthem that’s stuck in plenty of heads already, and is building on DeRulo’s already substantial reputation. You’ll find Jason DeRulo mobile ringtones here.

UK Albums Chart:

1. Boyzone – Brother (new entry)

The irrepressible stars of cheesy boy-band music are back with yet another soppy album, and yet another number one. It’s sure to charm their already ample fanbase, but unlikely to hang around much beyond high initial sales.

2. Gorillaz – Plastic Beach (new entry)

A long awaited album from what we can now safely call Damon Alburn’s lead project, the bizarrely animation-based Gorillaz. Plastic Beach is their third album, and is full of exactly the kind of electro-based enthusiasm that you’ve no doubt come to expect. Rumour has it this is a grower, too. You can grab Gorillaz Ringtones here.

3. Alicia Keys – The Element Of Freedom (last week – 3)

In an album chart full of new efforts, Alicia’s held her own, holding on for a 13th week in the top five with an album that’s proven far more successful then initial sales suggested. The super-diva was always going to come out on top, wasn’t she? Alicia Keys Ringones can be found here.

4. Amy McDonald – A Curious Thing (new entry)

Based on her real life experiences, Scot Amy McDonald’s second album has already far surpassed the success of her critically acclaimed first, having already gone in high on the Dutch and Belgian album charts, too. Look out for the cover-strewn live accompanying CD, too.

5. Lady Gaga – The Fame (last week – 2)

We’ve almost lost count, but we think Lady Gaga’s now marked her 61st week on the UK album charts, with tracks like Bad Romance (not featured on ‘The Fame’), Poker Face and Just Dance still pushing sales at almost unbelievable levels. She’s probably stopped even checking her rank at this stage… Get hold of Lady Gaga in ringtone form here.
