Vodafone UK Stocks the iPhone… Finally

Vodafone today shipped 50,000 iPhone handsets to customers who have pre-ordered the phone through their website, making the company the 4th in the UK to stock the iconic handset, following the originally exclusive stockists O2, Orange and Tesco Mobile.

Vodafone have been concerned about customers defecting to other networks in recent weeks in order to get hold of an iPhone, particularly since Orange and Tesco Mobile beat them to the market by several weeks following the end to O2’s exclusive handset deal. The Vodafone iPhone handset is not yet available in high street stores, but is expected to be released over the next few days, no doubt luring in hundreds more sales for one of the country’s most popular networks. iPhone’s massively increased sales over the Christmas period and since come despite the (Internet import only, so far) release of the Google Nexus, a handset that’s excited the critics worldwide.
