About Barry WhiteThe Texan King of funk and soul music Barry White died sadly at the age of only 58 in 2003, having sold in excess of 100 million copies of his 20 studio albums. Best known for massive chart smashes like Can't Get Enough Of You're Love, Babe; You're the First, the Last, My Everything and Never, Never Gonna Give You Up, White is often associated with romance (a reputation added to by heavy references in cult US legal drama Ally McBeal), as well as being noted for his deep, booming yet soulful vocals. Early in his life White was jailed for stealing $30,000 dollars worth of car tyres, leading to a prison experience that he now credits with having introduced him to the music that changed his life, and led to him ending his previous gang affiliations. His ashes now lay scattered off the California coast.
