About D12D12 - also known as the Dirty Dozen - are a Detroit hip-hop collective that includes Eminem, and have been performing together since 1995. Both of their two studio albums have shot to the top of the US billboard charts, while singles My Band, Purple Pills and How Come all stormed the singles charts. D12 are often steeped in controversy; two former members - Bugz and Proof - died in shootings following street fights, while Swift spent time in jail after skipping bail to attend Proof's funeral. Whilst much of the band's success arguably comes off the back of Eminem's solo achievements, several members have gone on to do well in their own right, as well as gaining many fans performing on Eminem's tours. The original idea of D12 was to collect together 12 of Detroit's best rappers into a Wu-Tang style collective, but the members were unable to find enough rappers who were good enough.
