About Fairport ConventionWith nearly forty years of total recording time behind them since 1967 (the band took a break from 1979 to 1985), Fairport Convention are a genre defining English folk rock band. As hosts of the Cropredy Festival since 1979, Fairport Convention is steeped in rewards for their music and cultural contributions. Perhaps the most famous of these are tracks like Who Knows Where the Time Goes, Sir Patrick Spens and The Hiring Fair. The band has featured an astonishing number of musicians over the years, especially for a ten-year period that's been dubbed 'Fairport Confusion', though they have had a settled five-member line up since 1998. Prominent album Liege and Lief was voted 'most influential folk of album of all time' by Radio 2 listeners. Yearly 'official bootlegs' from Cropredy Festival mean fans have access to ample legal live performances, each vivacious and well liked.
