About Gary GlitterGlam rock star Gary Glitter, born Paul Francis Gadd, had a successful musical career, but blighted his name forever with a child pornography conviction followed by a second conviction for underage sex in Vietnam. Before all the controversy, Glitter was in chart topping competition with acts like Slade and T.Rex, gaining impressive number ones with singles like I Love You Love Me Love and I'm the Leader of the Gang (I Am). Having been involved in the music since the age of 16, Glitter made little impact across the pond, but does have a well-known sports anthem in early hit Rock and Roll (Part 2). Glitter's never recovered from his legal problems, and has suffered two bankruptcies despite several attempts to re-promote his music in a greatest hits style anthology form. Glitter retired from live performances in 1999, and is now suffering from heart problems.
