Despite disappearing at the age of only forty, hits like Little Brown Jug, In the Mood and Moonlight Serenade are still as distinctive as ever, and performed regularly by similar bands to this day. Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong were amongst the band's high profile fans at the time. While plenty of Miller's compositions are readily available, original recordings are extremely scarce (as recording technology was rare in those days); many were written in collaboration with a team of musicians, who would alter and rearrange Miller's ideas to make new and original music for recording and broadcast. Many of Miller's former partners went on to become major musicians in their own right.
