His financial troubles were bought about by a fall from fame every bit as meteoric as his initial rise, after Hammertime had splashed the cash on extravagances like a gold Jacuzzi, waterfall and 33-seat theatre in his California mansion. Credited as one of the artists who bought rap and hip-hop into the mainstream, he leaves behind a considerable musical legacy. Today Hammer's still producing music, and has become a preacher and Internet entrepreneur.
