About Macy GrayThe soulful, gruff R&B sounds of Macy Gray came to the public's attention through the back door. Having garnered limited critical acclaim for debut album, 1999s On How Life Is, second single I Try - an emotionally charged ballad on painfully deep love - shot Macy into the public eye. The album went on to sell thirteen million copies worldwide. Macy garnered a huge following in the UK and US, and won a Grammy Award for her unique, rasping vocals. Singles Still and Why Didn't You Call Me were less successful, but led to some heaviy-touted festival appearances nonetheless, most notable a televised performance at Glastonbury. Since then, Macy has contributed to a number of movie soundtracks, released three further albums - none as successful as her first - and collaborated with Santana and Zucchero. She's now recording a fifth album under a new pseudonym, Nemesis Jaxson.
