His music has appeared in high profile films such as The Libertine and The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat, while Nyman's live appearance as part of the climate change concerts Live Earth - in Tokyo, Japan - made substantial waves in the classical community. The track The Heart Asks Pleasure First, originally part of the score for the film The Piano, has become a widely recognized piece of music due to its use on an advert for Lloyds TSB, as well as in episodes of 20/20. In 1974, his influential book on experimental music was published, and later republished in three other languages.
