About Mikey DreadJamaican born reggae superstar Mikey Dread - also known as Michael George Campbell, and named for his tightly dreadlocked hair - recently died of a brain tumor, leaving behind a substantial musical legacy. The reggae legend famously performed and produced on behalf of rock legends The Clash, as well as joining them on successful tours across several continents. Dread's own hits include The Source (Of Your Divorce), and a joint effort with former Guns and Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin, Can't Hear 'Em. His albums had an even greater impact, however, with the title of '79 debut Dread at the Controls becoming something of a reggae battle cry. Later albums World War III and Evolutionary Rockers became essential listening for any reggae lover. Alongside his music, Dread was also a fierce advocate of education, and studied engineering, electronics and business himself.
