About Noah And The WhaleFolk influenced London indie rockers Noah and the Whale - perhaps surprisingly for their name - are not a religious band, but are named in reference to their favourite film, 'The Squid and the Whale', fusing it's name with that of director Noah Baumbach. Their 2008 debut album peaked at number five on the UK album charts, and was followed by numerous major festival appearances, including Reading, Glastonbury, SXSW and V Festival. Follow up albums 'The First Days of Spring' peaked at number 16, while 5 Years Time is the bands most impressive single, peaking at number seven. The song also featured in adverts for the Jim Carrey film 'Yes Man'. Drummer Doug Fink recently announced his intention to leave the band and pursue a career in medicine, while they also recently suffered the misfortune of having all of their equipment stolen from outside their concert venue.
