About Ol' Dirty BastardAs one of the founding members of the Wu Tang Clan, Ol' Dirty Bastard is just one of the dozens of pseudonyms used by rapper Russell Jones, who is known for bringing a measure of humor and a slightly absurd edge to the notorious rap group. Often held back by his erratic behavior (variously attributed to both drug use and mental instability), Jones suffered from frequent legal problems, and died in 2004 due to a (almost certainly unintentional) lethal mix of cocaine and prescription drugs. Despite being arrested and convicted on at least half a dozen occasions, 'Ol Dirty Bastard became a rap legend, contributing his half singing, half rapping style to numerous Wu Tang tracks, and going on to produce a large body of solo work and participate in many collaborative projects, too. He remains a figure who's both controversial and widely revered in the rap world.
