About RihannaBorn in Saint Michael, Barbados in 1988, Rihanna quickly shot to fame in 2005 after the release of her debut album, 'Music of the Sun'. This was followed by hugely successful releases of 'A Girl Lie Me' and 'Good Girl Gone Bad', the later featuring all four of the hit US singles that most people will know Rihanna for: Disturbia, Take a Bow, Don't Stop the Music and, of course, Umbrella. The latter song won Rihanna a Grammy in 2008. Rihanna's music tackles a range of musical styles not often seen from modern pop stars. Her albums cover many different genres from R&B to pop rock. There's also a distinct Caribbean flavour to her music, especially in earlier albums. Her more recent music has taken a more pop approach, however. Rihanna is continuing to record new material as well as fronting various charity appeals.
