About Ringo StarrRingo Starr (Real name, Richard Stanley, MBE) is still a household name. Of course, he's best known as the drummer of the Beatles although he has also had a long solo career as a singer songwriter as well as doing several major acting roles. Despite being the drummer in what is arguably the best band ever, Starr also served up the vocals for well known Beatles hits such as 'Yellow Submarine' and 'With a Little Help From My Friends'. Outside of the Beatles, Starr's bestselling album is 'Ringo', released in 1973 with hits from the album reaching number one in the UK charts although not finding as much success in Europe. Starr's only real success in Europe was a number 2 in the UK charts with the single 'Back off Boogaloo". The Beatles have of course been elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but Starr remains the only Beatle not to also be a member on the strength of his solo career alone.
