
About Run DMCRun D.M.C are a famous hip hop group from Queens, New York and are considered by many to be the founders of modern hip hop. The group were responsible for bringing the genre to the attention on the mainstream during the 80s and early 90s and have been listed by Rolling Stone magazine as the 48th greatest musical act of all time. Run D.M.C achieve a notable number of firsts in their field, including the first rap act to make an appearance on US music channel, MTV and the first rap act with gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums. The trio enjoyed 7 Studio albums with 1986s 'Raising Hell' and 1993s 'Down with the King' the most popular, both reaching number 1 in the US Hip-Hop chart. The band finally split in 2002.
