About Simple MindsA new wave / pop rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, Simple Minds were a big force in UK music in the in the mid eighties to early nineties, finding worldwide success in 1985. The band was formed in 1985 and remains together today.Band members include Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill, Mel Gaynor, Eddie Duffy and Andy Gillespie. The band is best known for their 1985 single 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' which reached number one in the States, although oddly only managed to get to 7th in the UK charts despite staying in the charts for two years. It was written as the title song for the popular eighties movie, The Breakfast Club.The band has gone through many reinventions since their decline in the mid 1990s but they are still recording albums today. Their newest effort, 'Graffiti Soul' reached number 10 in the UK charts.
