About Smash MouthFormed in San Jose, California in 1994, Smash Mouth is an alternative/ska band that often performs covers of popular songs from the 60s and 70s. They also use this retro style in their own music. Their 1999 album 'Astro Lounge' gave the band their biggest critical and commercial success.Steve Harwell, Paul De Lisle, Leroy Miller and Mitch Marine make up the current line up, although only Harwell and Lisle have been in the band from the beginning.The band have released 5 studio albums between 1997 and 2006 and their 1997 and 1999 releases have gone double and triple platinum, respectively.Their 2003 release 'Get the Picture?' was a commercial failure however and failed to secure even 40,000 sales worldwide.Smash Mouth is currently working on a new album which will be released in 2009.
