About The B-52sAlthough they didn't receive commercial success until the 80s, the B-52's actually formed much earlier in 1976 in Athens, Georgia. The band is still together today and all the members of the original line-up are still together except Ricky Wilson who passed away in 1985. The bands mix of powerful female vocals and often spoken-word male vocals produced many unique songs that were particularly popular to a 80s audience who enjoyed their take on new wave music.The band has produced eight full length studio albums. Their biggest commercial success was in 1989 with their album 'Cosmic Thing' which went 4x multi platinum in the United States. The album had four singles released for it including their arguably most famous song 'Love Shack' which charted at #3 in the US single charts.The band released their newest album 'Funplex' in 2008.
