About The CardigansFormed in 1992 in the town of Jonkoping, Sweden the Cardigans are one of the few rock bands from the country that have gained international success in the pop charts. However, the band has often changed and adapted their musical style per album, cycling through pop rock, pop, hard rock and indie.'Emmerdale', their first album, received praised from critics in their own country and Japan but it was their album 'Life' released a year later in 1995 where the band saw its first true international acclaim. The bands most popular album in terms of pure sales is the 1998 'Gran Turismo' which reached #1 in their home country and #8 in the UK. Despite some very well known songs such as 'My Favourite Game' and 'Lovefool', The Cardigans have never had a number one single in either the UK or the US.
