About The Chemical BrothersThe Carpenters were originally formed and comprised of siblings Richard Carpenter and Karen Carpenter. The bands soft rock and pop duets made them famous - so much so that they were the best selling music act in America during the 1970s. The band stayed together until 1983 when Karen Carpenter died from anorexia and a variety of other drug problems related to the illness. However, albums were still produced by Richard Carpenter for some time after this, often based off various pieces of unreleased material. A Karen Carpenter solo album was also released in 1996 after being shelved by the record label 16 years earlier.The carpenters produced twelve fully original albums during their career. These albums include some massive hits including '(They Long to Be) Close to You)', 'Top of the World' and 'Please Mr. Postman', all reaching #1 in the US single charts.
