About The DarknessThe Darkness formed in 2000 and played glam metal and glam rock to a modern audience, citing influences such as Queen, Van Halen, Def Leppard and Whitesnake. By far the most famous member of the band was lead singer Justin Hawkins.The other members included his brother, Dan Hawkins, as well as Richie Edwards, Ed Graham and Frankie Poullain. The band is well known for emulating the style and image of 80s rock featuring over-the-top live acts and loud, falsetto singing.The band's debut 'Permission to Land' reached #1 in the UK and stayed at the top for 4 weeks leading the band to mass media coverage and winning 2004 BRIT awards for Best Group and Best Album. The only other album the band released was two years later in 2005. 'One Way Ticket to Hell... and Back' reached #11 in the UK.The darkness eventually broke up in 2006 when Justin Hawkins quit the band.
