The band has been influenced by various lo-fi and indie bands such as Death Cab of Cutie and Camera Obscura.The band currently features the lyrical and vocal talent of frontman Colin Meloy, along with Chris Funk, Jenny Conlee, Nate Query and John Moen who all play a variety of instruments including guitars, Hammond organs, accordions and double bass.The band produced 5 albums between 2002 and 2009. Although their first two albums, 'Castaways and Cutouts' and 'Her Majesty the Decemberists' didn't chart, their next three albums have been steadily rising on the billboard top 200 with their 2009 release 'The Hazards of Love' reaching #14.The Decemberists are touring the United States over the summer.
