About Van MorrisonBlues superstar Van Morrison - also known as The Belfast Cowboy - has been playing as a professional musician since his early teens, and is best known for the albums Astral Weeks (which he famously didn't perform live for over 40 years), and Moondance, as well as memorable hit single Brown Eyed Girl. Known for his particularly stubborn demeanor, Van was born George Ivan Morrison, and often sings in a nostalgic way about his Belfast childhood. His voice is characteristically growling and well suited to his folk, blues and rock and roll style. Numerous major superstars acknowledge Van Morrison as a major influence on their career, including Elton John, Rod Stewart and Thin Lizzy. To date Van has released an astonishing 41 live and studio albums, won six Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. He'll also be added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010.
